Saturday, April 30, 2005 Fireworks.. so romantic... Sleeping on the floor, tatami-style! It's actually really comfortable and the tatami really keeps you warm and toasty :) Trust us - you can just imagine the look of horror on our faces when we heard we were going to sleep on the floor, i mean we wld just freeze to death!! But Korean houses have this heating system that heats up the floor first so its really warm and snuggly. At the Korean subway! Cool right! In the train itself.. Buay song Korean ajeemas...I think they were buaysong that we were taking weird photos on the TRAIN, haha, just like how i give people weird looks when they start taking photos at MRT stations. Mrs Brightside at 11:23 am (0) comments {xoxo} Sunday, April 17, 2005 leaving tonight! see everyone back on 24/4! :) Mrs Brightside at 4:41 pm (0) comments {xoxo} Thursday, April 14, 2005 i guess the lesson i've learnt from all this is that: Everybody has big dreams. Not all can be fulfilled. Also, not everyone has the ability to fulfill their dreams. Some dream too big, overestimating their own abilities. They say that one should aim for the moon, so that even if one fails, one will end up among the stars. I think I aimed for the sun, but landed back on earth. Earth. Equals reality. Mrs Brightside at 6:07 pm (0) comments {xoxo} Friday, April 08, 2005 im really starting to think that my job at indochine is very rewarding! i duno, maybe its just one of my happier and more upbeat working days.. i mean, ive had shitty drop-glasses-and-fruits days as well as screw-up-orders-and-forget-to-replace-plates days, but today was just rewarding. felt good getting to know jenny, afiq and ray better.. they're a hoot to be with! and jenny and afiq are so cute, haha i only see jenny open up when she's with him. wink wink. and anyways.. i think i have some kind of illness cuz i really enjoyed serving those snootily rich ppl, even though the food platter almost broke my arm and it was quite stressful with jed dash (?) himself handling the food! like, wow, qing shou zuo shi wu man. but the platter was damn feavy. i think i got biceps already. aside from that... bantering with the guests and rubbing shoulders (literally) with the rich and famous of singapore was AN EXPERIENCE in itself! served terrence cao (didnt really leave a very intellectual impression), allan wu (real cute in person! though he rejected the finger food), and i saw *heart beat* MAH BOW TAN! i seriously wanted to go over and say something real impressive and intellectual so he could give me a scholarship but, of course, louts like me are never allowed near the important people. according to the rest, irene ang and edmund chen were there also... ah but those are just the stars. i think some of the faces in the crowd look familiar, like those rich people whom i probably dont know cuz we dont run in the same circles (duh). and the waterfront people were really friendly! it just felt good working with people who like, smile when they see you and try and help you out with things.. the people i worked with were really nice and even just a passing smile meant a lot to me. haha. im emo. we got to wear real cute sailormoon outfits for the event! cuz its like this marina sail club, i think they're trying to sell membership. so we wore the sailer scarf/bib, complete with white t-shirt and hat! haha. as if i dont already look young enough. i think in sailor outfit i probably looked like i was 5 or something, no wonder the guests were so nice to me when i served them hahaha. one old guy even asked me how old i am, what im gonna study in uni, and all that. darn shouldve asked him for a scholarship. too bad no cameras to capture the moment! we all looked real cute. hahahaha OH. most importantly. the finger food was good, yeah, oh boy. salmon, salmon with mayonnaise, pork (doesnt sound tempting but it really tastes good), crab, tuna/fish springroll, scallop, prawn and cheese&crackers. and the fruits were sweet! funny sight: i tell ray (malay guy) that the stuff on the bread is pork, so he picks off the pork and eats the remaining stuff. Next scene: ray drinking heineken. haha :) Mrs Brightside at 12:38 am (0) comments {xoxo} Wednesday, April 06, 2005 i just read wah yong's testimonial for shili off friendster.. so sweet!! if my brother was half as nice i would be in heaven already. Mrs Brightside at 1:03 am (0) comments {xoxo} Monday, April 04, 2005 new words learnt: lala mui new people met: gan tin (?), wah yong's fabah friend - that's 2 different people there! new places explored: Zoo Negara, Atmosphere, Passion, Thai Club, Berjaya Times Square's Cosmos World Indoor Theme Park new place stayed: Corus hotel new modes of transport (unaided!): KTM Komuter line, Putra LRT, KTM Intercity(Singapore - KL), Mini Bas Persiaran that overcharged us with the price of 30rm. new musik: trance, house, rum jungle-style new dance: the melbourne shuffle (muahahahah) and other head-bopping movements new food: (don't get shocked when you see this) nasi goreng, authentic MALAYSIAN roti boy, more dunkin donuts new love? none. only the same old one. :) Mrs Brightside at 11:35 pm (3) comments {xoxo} Friday, April 01, 2005 March 31, 2005 Dear Yen Han, I am sorry to notify you that after reviewing your application thoroughly, our selection committee is unable to offer you admission to the University of Pennsylvania's Class of 2009. All aspects of your application, the academic and the non-academic, were considered carefully and compared to those of the rest of the applicant pool. Perhaps the most difficult and displeasing part of my job is writing similar letters to thousands of students like you, whose accomplishments are promising and exciting. I assure you that the selection committee gave your application every consideration, but, because of an unprecedented number of outstanding applicants we have to deny admission to a large majority of the remarkable students who seek admission to Penn. Most of our applicants are qualified to pursue successfully a program of study at Penn; however, only a relatively small percentage can be admitted. We are pleased to have received your application to our University. I am sincerely sorry to disappoint you, yet trust that you will have other opportunities to attend another very good college. I wish you the best in the future. Sincerely, Willis J. Stetson, Jr. Dean of Admissions Mrs Brightside at 12:10 pm (0) comments {xoxo} a life altering moment. i didnt get up at 7am to check the status though - i got home at 7 n went online to check. it's taking forever, i bet the server's jammed up. worrying the shit outta me.
