Thursday, August 31, 2006 my tuition kid is soooooooo sweet!! he got me a box of ferrero's as a happy teachers day present!! :) awwww. i turned my back to pack my stuff and then when i turned around he was standing there with this nicely wrapped pink box and he said happy teachers day! i was like !!! so sweeT!! hehe Mrs Brightside at 10:59 pm (0) comments {xoxo} Tuesday, August 22, 2006 The email was shot out at 3:06 am, Tuesday morning. It said: "Dear Divers, As you know, VIVACE is this friday, and we're have gonna have a booth at the concourse from 1pm - 6pm. Since SMUX has been winning best booth almost every year, this year should be no different! Hence, we have came up with this "world" idea for the team's booths, which will most definitely, 100%, spoil market. So let me let you in on the "world" idea. Basically, SMUX will have 6 booths in total. One for each team, and one registration booth. Structures will be built to form 5 telephone booth sized cubicle. Each "cubicle' will be decorated to represent each team's "world". So in our case, we'll paste pictures of fishies, turtles, seaweed, corals, Sharks and rays on the "walls" of the "cubicle" to create an entire underwater experience. Any other relevant props would be useful too. And if any of you have any other ideas on how to decorate our "world" please please please please please suggest them. At anyone time, there should be 4 ppl at the vivace booth on friday. This consists of 2 ppl inside the "world" and 2 at the registration booth. Alright guys, this is the time we should come together as a team to make this happen. Please make yourselves free on TUES 7pm and THURS 4PM at the CCA ROOM. Do bring a change of clothes as there's lots of painting to be done. Please reply to JIARONG on your availability for TUES, THURS, and the time slots that you'll be available on FRI. Jiarong, please help me complie attendence. Thanks. C'mon guys.....let's built our world together!" So, I happily replied: "yup will b there.. But I jus read the email so got no change ofclothes.." And so I had my classes, went for a brief lunch, met val for a mere moment because I had to rush back to school at 7pm. So I was sitting at the cca room stoning around, wondering why nobody was here even though I already waited a plain hour and it was, obviously, 8pm. Msged a random number of people to find out why, and this was the reply I got: "I sent u a email tat i cant be there and who will be there." "Yup but will be late..." "Yup I'm coming at 9pm" "I'm actually at another meeting now.." So of course I got a little puzzled. What then, is this meeting for if everyone doesnt seem to be able to make it at 7pm and if not, why didnt they place it at 9pm instead? So i sent another sms, asking how come the meeting was set at 7pm but no one there. Then I got the reply: "Excuse me but I have tuition. And I am rushing over when it ends. Shaun and the rest is there already. So are you there or going to be there?" But no one was "already there". There was no one there and I had waited for 1.5 hours. Ta daa! And so it begins, first day of school. Reached sch at about 920am and being the kiasu me, i started queueing for verts :P haha got my book sold, met emma in the queue and started chatting with him and this other vj senior, i think her name is roshini. or something, cant remember :P anyways went off with emma after i sold my book, and looked through ALLL the pics and videos from world choir games 2006, xiamen! omg, brought back so many of my own memories of singing, performing. really miss those days man :) seeing all the familiar faces, hearing the familiar songs and even NO MAN. gosh, really very very tempted to go back to chorale but i duno if i can handle it this sem, what with cca stuff, work and school. and then there's copenhagen 2008! lovely lovely.. i can still feel it in my veins, the feeling of stressing (stressed breasts, as bao calls it) over choir, singing, getting the tone/pitch/colour right, the sound right. getting lots of emo/motivational talks before competitions. the high of winning!! its all coming back now.. all feels so good. bah. emma mentioned chorale AGM this saturday afternoon but might have something on then.. anyways, continuing on to first day of school. had BP and prof seems like a really nice guy!! But the class looks pretty competitive with everyone shooting off their mouths on the first lesson, its scary. esp the indian (scholars) i think, always damn on the ball and always class participating. coupla unexpected familiar faces like calvin!! and aihui, but the rest i duno who also. end of class, went to little india with ph and my buddy and my buddy's buddy haha.. walked arnd damn a lot until we reach this indian restaurant. ate with our hands! but i had stomachache after that (and ph too, there must b sth wrong with the food) even tho prata and briyani tasted pretty good. went to mustafa and bought a coupla CD-Rs.. then trudged back to bugis mrt (school for ph). overall, tiring tiring day for my poor feet. resolution to wear havianas tmr instead. even though its damn sloppy. 830 class tomorrow!! garrrr. Because Monday's my favourite course (i predict) and basically all the courses im doing this sem are pretty much stuff that i really wanna learn about, and am interested in doing in future. so here's to an academically exciting, fun-filled sem ahead :) nervous. cos i also predict again that this sem will be filled with plenty of ups, downs and tumultous stuff. i can just see it coming! garrrgh. and i got this feeling it will event the word called cca. dreading it as well. work continues on thurs n fri, and i really really want to do this well and cope and juggle like i can do it. dont know if i even have the time to blog once school begins huh ;) wish me luck! a margarita and $400 to tide me over the next 15 weeks :) Mrs Brightside at 9:42 pm (0) comments {xoxo} Friday, August 18, 2006 ginny chua has taught me how to save! haha.. ironic, the shopaholic teaching ME how to save! :P anyways, yes. i have to save. for deutschland. last day of enjoying before school start. to be honest, i havent enjoyed at all - maybe except for orientation and camp stuff (which was sometimes more of a pain in the ass rather than enjoyment, but i shall can that thought) but other than that i've been working real hard. summer has just gone by too fast and 4 freaking months are over. a summary: may - gone diving all around malaysia, with zm. now that was fun :) june - started work, full time. Did sai kang, went to the bank countless times. july - work gets better cos im doing less sai kang now. smux camp, source of endless stress and worry but it all ended very successfully and im glad august - orientation (no, please correct me - freshmen teambuilding camp) was alright, but had to meet up a lot of times for the workshops and all and practising for skit. that was fun too. meeting my freshies whom im very greatful for for being cooperative and a great bunch, really. and then school begins. Today is the eve of National day. in the spirit of things, I came to work dressed in RED! Muahahaha. And i wear a white jacket. :) Anyways last night's meet the freshies was quite fun, my freshies look quite enthu and i hope we'll all have a great time at camp on thurs.. But felt quite burnt out cos after marche still had to go back to sch n rehearse for the skit. but i think we can do it! the skit looks quite promising and hope we will all shed our second skins and er perform our best. dun ask me what that means i was jus trying to make it sound cheem :P On this joyous day, let me say a few words of thanks to the country that i grew up in. First, I am thankful for this safe and healthy environment to grow up in. i think its important that we can enjoy being able to walk on the streets without fear of being mugged or shot or bombed or anything like that. Somehow this boldness has made us exceptionally vulnerable overseas. i am reminded of the times in bangkok where me n ph wandered around with the gut of tigers, esp in patpong area where anything could have happened to us.. shudders. maybe its cos she looks thai. :P yeah and actually i realised thats the most impt thing i wanted to be thankful for, haha :P no la. i thought of so many things to say but somehow, cat got my tongue (fingers? since im typing this. haha) Mrs Brightside at 10:06 am (0) comments {xoxo} Monday, August 07, 2006

Mrs Brightside at 3:12 pm (0) comments {xoxo} Hard Candy Not a particularly strong film given the rave reviews and critics' stars. Somehow it was more talking than anything else, none of the gore or scary shit stuff that i kind of hoped to see. Even the pedophile torture bit wasnt particularly exciting (although zm was shit scared hee hee) but i felt that more than anything else, the movie was trying to portray them as playing mind games with each other, but ended up playing mind games with the audience as well (not sure if that was the intended effect? hmm.) it didnt really hit me then but come to think of it, they tried to portray the female tormentor as a deranged, psycho kid. Like in horror flicks how the psycho is always, well, psycho and crazy and fighting with his inner demons and the like. but somehow ellen page's acting is just not there yet - what do you expect from a 16 year old who's acting deranged and crazy? and the acting just merely covers, very thinly, the psycho character portrayal. It left me confused anyway, cos i was torn betweeen thinking she was really psycho or if she was serious about doing the stuff she did and avenging the world or something. bah. actually kind of disappointed because me and zm traversed 4 cinemas before we managed to actually even FIND that show at PS, on our 5th try! sigh. and all arcade freaks please go try house of the dead 4. the gameplay's pretty cool. you have to shake your gun when the enemy grabs hold of you. and instead of shooting out of screen, just shake your gun again and it reloads! cool! haha.
