Monday, January 15, 2007 a cold, foggy day. yeah its unusually foggy here today, and also really really cold. brr. rushed home after class to talk to zm on the phone :) it was a good 30min but i think it cost me like only $1+ sgd so that was pretty cheap. shall call with skype from now onwards :) i spent the weekend in munich!! omg it was wonderful, and neuschwanstein is THE quintessential castle. please google it if u dont know what it is, cos its absolutely gorgeous :) and i met so many nice and wonderful and friendly people.. oh it was great. and i met petra too, my smu buddy hee and she showed me around, treated me to lunch at hofbrauhaus (the biggest beer hall in munich, complete with 1L mugs and men and women dressed in Bavarian costumes and playing ol' german traditional music complete with shouts of "Prost!" and more. Good stuff. Oh yea and Munich weiner sausages were good too :) and bao, i met this korean guy in the lounge of a hostel.. and he is a friend of claire's! as in claire wu the model! i was really shocked. the first thing he asked me was like "do u know claire?" and i was like "er.. claire wu??" then he was like YAH and i just couldnt believe how small a world this is. haha.. damn qiao right! ok i have a few quotes of the day: "you look korean!" - korean girl i met in Munich. "you have a really strong American accent!" - British guy i met. um.. ok shit i think its subconscious, as American english has an undue influence here - think music, tv, movies, everything - so I am working really hard to try to stop the accent. and speak normally. im not kantang or fake or anything ok! "you have no accent whatsoever!" - American guy living in my hostel. haha, i guess his "no accent" means "american accent". ok.. working on it.. and i also met this japanese girl who is a ballerina, and she goes around auditioning for roles in ballet companies all over europe. she's lived in russia (for 5 years) before, as well as australia so she can speak pretty decent english. and shes damn cute! as in, if i were a guy i would be attracted to her (not that i am!) kinda thing.. when we were at the castle she was like "oh castle should go with ballet!" and she started doing her ballet pose in front of the castle, for a nice picture shot. haha.. its damn funny :P and she had this bottle of spanish wine which she couldnt finish, so we opened it in the lobby of the hostel and shared it with the british guy who helped us open it. Ang Moh 1, Asian 0. Speaking of which, let me explain why Asian guys SUCK in general, (not referring to zm of course, haha) and why ang moh guys always score the chicks. Scenario: Me and Ayako (the Japanese girl) are sitting in the lounge of the hostel, trying to open the bottle of spanish wine. Ayako is a pretty small girl (about my size?), so she was trying to use the corkscrew to open the bottle but her technique's not very good, so we couldnt do it. And in that very same lobby, sat 4 korean guys. they were sitting at a table about 3-5metres away from the sofas we were sitting. And ayako was trying to open the bottle of wine in full view of those guys. NONE of them, NO ONE got up to come and offer us any help. No one, not one at all. She was trying for a good 5-8minutes and they just sat there and stared at her trying to open the bottle. Then, along comes this black guy, and he's getting some hot drinks from the vending machine. He got his drink, noticed us having trouble, and immediately came over to help us. Tich (that's his name): hey do u guys need any help with that? *laughter from the Korean guys in the background. LAUGHTER.* Ayako: yeah sure, thanks! and then ayako whispers to me like, those guys just sitting over there, sitting, staring and laughing. fuck! ok yeah the scoring is abit screwed, i mean the black guy isnt angmoh but he's living and bred in London so technically he has like u know, Westerner ways. And im not saying that all Asians guys are like that, or even Korean guys but just that, i mean, its something so simple. So simple like coming over to offer your help. and yet they dont have the manners to take the initiative to help. maybe its the asian upbringing - shy, conservative, whatever. but its certainly not doing much for asian guys.
