Thursday, January 11, 2007 parties, booze and pipapo i have to say, german beer is GOOD. i mean i never really liked beer in singapore - i hate tiger, and also carlsberg cos i had it spilt over me before, and also cos its bitter and gross. When i went to thailand n tried singha, chang -yeah they were pretty ok. light, slightly smoother, but there was no way i would down a whole bottle. now HERE, thats a totally different story. let me document the booze journey: Sunday 7/1: went to a german students' party and had one of those german beers. I think it was brandless so i cant identify it but yeah it was very light, and smooth too and so i downed that. But i couldnt get past the whole bottle, it took me the whole party to finish 1 bottle. Oh the beer was free so yeah :P Monday 8/1: the german students (ala SMU Icon) brought us to a pizza place, followed by the student run bar called Korova. had 1 beer for 2euros, this time it was beck's. Tasted ok, u know, getting used to the acquired taste that is beer.. Tuesday 9/1: There was this international dinner to cook stuff and yeah my mum helped me cook some soup to bring there :) and this time beer was free! i had 2 mugs and hmm, think the tolerance for beer is increasing! Wednesday 10/1: There was just a small get together in the living room of the other dorm, which was real pretty i mean they had sofas and a huge LCD tv hanging on the wall of the room. so great. compared to our dorm the tv room is pathetic with like a small 22 inch (?) tv and mouldy old sofas and musty carpets. it was gross. yeah and the beer here was 1 euro, so i had just 1 bottle of bitburger, courtesy of lucas the polish guy who was desparately trying to sell his beer cos he paid for them first. today: woke up at 12 noon, haha.. but still tired leh. tonight theyre going clubbing in koblenz but i dont think theres much to expect, koblenz is after all still a small town and, ya it'll prolly be weird or sth. friday: the school has this series of workshops and seminars where they invite like the biggest companies in germany to give talks n participate, as well as profs from all over, and only a limited number of students can take part. its called campus for finance (maybe smu shld do sth like that too, its pretty cool) and after the whole conference there is again, party with free beers and even cocktails i heard. not sure if i should/can be there but, we shall see huh?
