I am a pig.

Ok ginny chua i know u're going to say that u already know that but, i really am today!!
Breakfast: at hostel in dusseldorf. We had buffet breakfast at 11am so quite full for quite long..
Mid-day tea: at a nice little cafe in die Altstadt. Algerian cafe - i had white chocolate drink.
Lunch: At a seafood place omg damn long never eat seafood liao! haha.. i had grilled sotong it was mmmmmmm so damn good. if i had money i would order oysters and mussels and dearie i even saw PARROTFISH leh! they flew it all the way from tioman! haha just kidding :P
Tea: Bought a chocolate muffin from Le Crobag at the Dusseldorf hbf.
Dinner: French fries at Mcdonalds Koblenz.. haha
Post dinner: came back to my dorm room, ate like 4 chocolate chip cookies
Post post dinner: went to cook maggi mee.

wah lau! feel damn full n fat now. tomorrow must go exercise! and also tomorrow the weather is damn good.

Sunny! High - 15 degrees. Sounds like a good deal. if only i didnt have that stupid stupid 330pm class. scheisse.. maybe i should give it a miss. to go hiking again. hehe.. after all that fatty stuff i consumed.

But that aside, dusseldorf was awesome seriously. it felt like civilisation again (mayb thats cos i've spent the last 1 month, almost 1.5 in small town Vallendar... haha) with restaurant and bar streets, people doing sports and cycling everywhere, rollerblading, flying kites.. people having beer out in the sun.. people! just people. And also big clubs with good music! it was so awesome. felt like singapore clark quay in fact.. hhaha and even pricier! and the company was great too! pictures.. er havent upload yet, dusseldorf doesnt have a lot of sights so the main pics are people pics.

now i have to find some time to kill.. cant go to sleep too early cos of the stupid mee sitting in my stomach. sigh. i shouldnt have eaten too much.

Ginny Chua, i went hiking!

Yes.. I filled my gepäck with 9kg worth of weights (in the form of water in bottles) and went hiking up Mount Schönstatt. It was beautiful! Best (or worst? Hmm.. cant decide) of all, it started to snow when i was in the middle of the forest! ahhh.. triggered memories of snowy woods and it was really pretty :) too bad i didnt bring camera with me.. bcos i was really in heaven, it felt a bit like dong ji lian ge bcos of all the trees. except maybe dont look at the mud on the ground and the felled logs lying around painted with their serial numbers and "Vallendar" in bright neon red paint, waiting to be shipped off somewhere. And also ignore the occasional nondescript dilapidated old houses that trigger thoughts of ripper style serial killer movies (think b-grade films.. about american teens hiking in the woods/going on a short camp in the forest in summer). Other than, it was still beautiful hahaha :P

but i was stupid.. forgot to bring my watch. so i had no idea how long i was out there.. I had to deal with it by counting the number of songs that had passed on my shuffle and then calculate the average time.

102 songs in my shuffle
total play time = 7 hours and 12 min = 420 + 12 min = 432 min.
By the time i came back it was the 20th song.

Total hiking time = 432 / 102 x 20 = 80min.

Not bad lah.. haha.

No wait. one major shitty thing happened. the stupid juice carton of "Ja!" multivitamin juice leaked! So now my backpack smells of multivitamin juice (dont ask me what kind of juice is that.. haha) even though i filled it with water. but still there is the multivitamin smell and i have to find a way to dry it (its on top of my heater now) and the inside as well. ROARRRR. stupid carton.

But overall i enjoyed my spazieren gehen hehehe. I know, excessive use of german in this post.. cant help it, i just finished my german exam! yay.. happy but at the same time lost. i want to keep learning german! have to go find some books and CDs etc to help me with it.

Living in darkness...

Literally. Both lights in my room went kaputt today so i have no light, and the weather outside is so bad that there aint much sun today, just a really cloudy/windy/rainy day. so much for the good weather post previously.

in fact next week it might even snow! its crazy here, the weather here. one week sunny as singapore, next week snowy as sweden. baaaaah.

so now i have a problem. german exam is tomorrow and i need to study but studying in poor light is bad for your eyesight. Guess i just have to go sch and study or sth but thats so sad u know, going to school on a sunday to study. plus the bad weather outside just makes me wanna not step outside at all... maybe i'll just study in the kitchen, or bunk in with another student and study in their room. or something.

anyway! chinese hot pot yesterday.. it was good fun! haha.. i never had such fun talking to genrong and fengying before, reminiscing on singapore and SMU ways.. i feel so old. oh 2 french were invited and i was surprised that a black guy could use chopsticks. haha! amazinggggg.. but he was good. proof below.

and then the assistant's party.. i guess assistants here are like TAs but maybe they're paid full time TAs. have no idea how the system works but they threw a free party so hey im not complaining. yeah free but the beer was SOOOO badddd. so disgusting that even my alcoholic friends couldnt bring themselves to drink it. haha. i just had one and i was done. the music was good until halfway it became all the super old and retro songs; i mean its not like mambo songs u know. and i cant do action thingies here i'll get laughed at.. haha. so i just sat there and kinda moped.. there are just some people i dont really like to dance with. left soon after too..

oh and my dearie sent me a really sweet email this morning :) i missed him too during the party yest.. wish he was there with me.

fooooood.. yummy yummy. i miss dong fen (bottom right hand corner). and the chinese people have a very interesting way of eating hot pot.. they pour sesame oil into their plates and then whatever liao they take from the hotpot, they put on their plates. and they eat with the ma you! so cool right. quite smart also.. next time i shall try at home. and also, they dont add egg into the hotpot soup... so strange! i always do that leh!

Good weather, spring is here!

Been having a long spate of good weather here lately, and i absolutely love it. Words cannot describe how i love spring :) Temperatures in the day hovered around 15-18 degrees, feels like air con with the warm sun shining. shiok!

And then, people here started doing the strangest thing. They started suntanning on the Burgplatz (i.e. in the middle of nowhere on the cement flooring outside the school), it was amusing! And people even started studying while suntanning, sitting in the sun just reading their notes in their sunglasses. I was like !!! I'm never getting caught dead doing that in Singapore! haha..

But guess what. My nice PSOM group mates decided that doing a group project in the nice sun and weather was a brilliant idea, so we brought a small table from the classroom and plonked ourselves right in the centre and sat in the sun for about 4 hours, doing our project there and then. hahaha.. it was amusing :P I had great gelato too - for only 0.60 per scoop! A new ice cream shop recently opened near school and its sooooo good to eat ice cream once again.. heh.

im sick :(

got a sorethroat since yest, n this morning it became worse. now also got slight blocked/runny nose n feeling hot n cold at the same time. shitttttt. let me try to figure out the reason:

1. had these fried potatos at the school cafeteria. they were pretty dry n fried n throat hurting.
2. 2 nights in a row (mayb more) without proper dinner - thurs had an entire pizza by myself and mayb that escalated the sorethroat. also been having many group meetings so i've been having improper meals.
3. on thursday i wore my dresspants instead of my jeans - WRONG MOVE! my dress pants were so thin and i ended up sneezing many times in class and during meeting. When i was walking back home, the temperature was 2 degrees and i was wearing my dress pants, thin long sleeved top with a spaghetti inside. i think i probably froze then.

so now.. today wake up. throat damn pain, with all these sicky symptoms above. :( and the chinese students r having hotpot tonight!!!! i dont think i can go cos its prolly ma la huo guo which is too spicy and i dont think my body can take the cold wind n weather blowing outside - i might get even more sick. nooooooooooooo... i wanna go i wanna go :(

im back!

sorry for the absence, this week has been an utterly draining week for me :( back to back 9am to 5pm classes almost everyday have taken its toll on my otherwise fun-filled exchange experience.

anyhoo... instead of listing down all the fun stuff that i have to do, im listing down the not-so-fun stuff. boo:(

tomorrow: case study for logistics management due; project meeting for production and service operations management at 5pm till late... hopefully they fetch me back to the dorm after the meeting :P

Saturday: PSOM meeting again.. morning till late

Sunday: probably PSOM again. And also studying for Logistics exam on thursday

wah! so fun lah! but ok i kinda "celebrated" a little today cos the last logistics class is tomorrow (like, finally! oh gawd) and we finished the case assignment so... i got coerced and forced in a corner to watch my first german movie, Goodbye Lenin. it was ok lah i mean the company was great - the level 4 boys (i.e. those damn pro at german) were laughing like ALL the time while i was just there like um.. trying to even understand the movie. only german subtitles too. :/ bleh.. but it was ok lah i mean its a fairly simple movie and i enjoyed the stupid parts too :)

really sleepy now but i wanna do sth fun. duno why. maybe its cos i know if i dont do it now, tomorrow onwards i wont have time over the weekend to do it.. and it would be such a waste. blah.

bf is going for his weekend escapade to tioman tomorrow.. so lucky :( i wanna go too! haha.. but im gonna b stuck in the dorm studying. boohoo hoo.

Nightmare of the Hair Ball

When i was young, i used to have this nightmare. I would be showering (in the toilet of my old house) and then suddenly, i felt very very nauseous. then, i would puke out this gross hair ball and it was SO disgusting.

The nightmare was so vivid and horrid that i even proceeded to make a diary entry about it, even though at that time i rarely wrote in my diary and had maybe like 3 or 4 entries in total about dreams i had, etc.

Now, I'm living the nightmare. Here in the dorm, there is 1 female toilet consisting of 2 showers and 2 toilets. There are a total of 10 girls altogether; lets assume that each shower is equally utilised i.e. 5 will bathe in shower 1 and 5 will bathe in shower 2 when they bathe. but of course this is untrue because i like shower1 way better because it has extra shelf space plus extra hook behind the door. but let us just assume that both showers are equally utilised. So that is 5 girls in shower 1 right?

Now, assume that each girl takes 1 shower a day. 5 girls. 7 days a week. 5 girls = 5 showers per day x 7 days a week = 35 showers a week. can you IMAGINE the amount of hair that get traps in the bloody shower trap???!!?!?!?!

Nono, but its not so bad. Gerhard the house keeper comes in and cleans the shower twice a week. So it kinda halves the number of showers and on average, at any point of time when u step into the shower, the shower has been used for 17 plus minus showers. imagine the amount of hair!!!

Today i was bathing and because the shower is a bit choked so the hair clump was floating around the shower. I was trying desperately to avoid the hair clump by hopping around the shower but occasionally when im not paying attention it will sneak up on me and float near my ankles, giving me goosebumps all overrrrrrr. yucks. and please dont even suggest that i use my hands to remove it because it is utterly disgustingggggggg.

So, my childhood nightmare has come true. :(

march is here...

time really flies when you're not looking. its already march. soon it'll be april, may, june.. and then im home.

i mean yeah im so looking forward to going home! but i dont really wanna leave this place either... the weather is turning nicer - spring is just awesome and pretty - and im getting accustomed to the life here. life being relaxing, dont really need to put much effort into studying, MSN-ing a lot especially from 2pm to 5pm everyday (cos thats when everyones online in SG haha), just having trivial conversations and fraternizing. no pressure at all.. i like :)

plans for this weekend:
tonight - watch movie! i want to rewatch the prestige omg the movie 2nd best to Death Note :)
tomorrow - dorm party! duno whats going to happen but good thing its at the dorm, anytime i sian or what can come back to my room and orh orh hahaha
saturday/sunday - nothing! i can go hiking.. yay! to ginny chua - i am SO going hiking lor! i will prove you wrong!

please let time slow down...
